Starting this season, Marco Polo Venice is launching a new afternoon departure for those who want to visit the islands of Murano and Burano at a more leisurely pace, away from the morning crowds. The tour departs directly from Punta Sabbioni in the morning, then from Venice at 2:30 PM and returns to Punta Sabbioni around 7:00 PM, sailing through the heart of the Venetian lagoon. One day, three islands, a complete experience: the blown glass of Murano, the vibrant colors and lace of Burano, and the sunset over the lagoon on the return journey.

The program of the afternoon tour Murano-Burano
2:30 PM — Departure from Venice
The tour departs from the Venice pier at 2:30 PM. Boarding the boat in the early afternoon means enjoying the lagoon without the morning rush: the light is lower, the colors warmer, and the islands are already free from the crowds of organized groups.
Murano: blown glass in the hands of the masters (departure at 4:00 PM)
Murano is the world capital of blown glass, a title it has held with pride for centuries. The island’s master glassmakers preserve techniques passed down through generations—techniques that no industrial factory has been able to replicate. During the stop, you will visit a historic furnace and witness a live glass-blowing demonstration: an experience that never fails to surprise, even those who think they know what to expect.
Burano: colorful houses, lace, and late afternoon light (departure at 6:00 PM)
Burano is perhaps the most photographed island in the lagoon, but no photograph truly captures the vibrancy of its colors in person. Each facade is painted in a different hue, a tradition that, according to legend, helped fishermen recognize their homes when returning from sea in the fog. In addition to its colorful houses, Burano is famous for “tombolo,” the technique local embroiderers still use today to produce handmade lace. You will visit an artisan workshop and have time to stroll through the island’s narrow streets and small bridges.
Tip: Late afternoon is the best time to photograph Burano, as the low-angled light enhances the colors of the facades spectacularly.
6:00 PM — Return to Punta Sabbioni
The boat departs Burano at 6:00 PM and returns to Punta Sabbioni (expected arrival around 7:00 PM). The final crossing, with the sun setting over the lagoon, is often the most memorable moment of the entire day.
