Burano is one of the most distinctive islands in the Venetian lagoon, famous for its brightly colored facades and the tradition of bobbin lace-making, still practiced by local lace-makers. Tradition has it that fishermen painted their houses to recognize them upon returning from fishing, even in the fog. On the island you will find artisan workshops, traditional restaurants, and quiet streets away from the crowds of Venice.
